Surfers at Vilano Beach FL, after 3 days of near constant rain. They told me the surfing is this good maybe 10 days a year. It was a blast shooting them! One of this year’s fawns on Christmas morning. Most likely the last one here. I will miss our furry and feathered friends more than I can bear to think about right now.

I gave up trying to photograph critters, especially birds, in a pristine setting. If I always went for pristine, I’d never have any shots. So I try to make good compositions within the environment I find them in and take as many shots as I can. One thing I do want in most cases is a catchlight in the eye(s).

Also, when I’m shooting any creature who is hunting/fishing, I try to keep my distance so I don’t disturb them.

Right after she’d made an attempt to grab a squirrel off the bird feeder next to our kitchen window.  I’d love to see one succeed some day.
